Mid-Century Modern coffee table designed by Horst Brüning for Kill International around 1970. The base, of soft-edged matte chrome steel, has spaced parallel uprights .A heavy piece of 20 mm crystal-plate glass sits on top.In Fine original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. Horst Brüning (1934) Born in Hamburg, Germany in 1934. After studying architecture and interior design at the College of Graphic Arts in Hamburg until 1956 and complementary Industrial Design studies in Copenhagen and Stockholm, Brüning set up a design and architecture office in Stuttgart in 1963. During this period Brüning also came in contact with the two danish architects Jørgen Kastholm and Preben Fabricius, involving a loose, amicable connection with the two young Designers and a successful exchange of ideas, which in the end led to international recognition and success. Influenced by international designers and architects such as Finn Juhl, Wegner, Jacobsen and Mogensen, Horst Brüning created furniture programs in collaboration with well-known manufacturers that even nowadays implement the singular Bauhaus idea: minimal in form, functional in application and use, durable in practice, timeless, but nevertheless show the spirit of time.
