Large hand crafted wall sculpture or sconce. Dimensions 170 x 90 x 10cm. Unique piece made by the Belgian sculptor Jules DeWaele, known under the pseudonym PIA MANU. Great collector of fossils and trilobites, Pia Manu takes back on this sculpture with primitive and rough sculptural forms , primal forms created by the power of nature. Made of concrete, iron and colored glass. Circa 1970. Representative of the Flemish Brutalists he models or sculpts primitive forms with materials with a powerful or anti-poetic texture (as he himself calls them) using concrete, earth and slate.

Late 17th C stone fragment of a mythical creature fighting with a deer, horse or unicorn around the tree. The surface shows nice raw carvings, slightly weathered but all details still clearly visible. Rare piece of medieval art. The bronze attachment underneath is still visible.

17thC earthenware Langerwehe jar. In beautiful weathered condition, no cracks. Used to store food between 1600 and 1800. Langerwehe is a town in Germany known for his ceramics from the 11thC and for his pottery from the 15thC. This jar was found in Holland.

The sculpture has an amazing patina with cracks in the surface, which give this a true wabisabi expression. You can see clearly that this sculpture has to become a figure. Found in an old artists workshop near Antwerp Belgium.

Bronze brutalist sculpture made by Belgian artist Marc De Bruyn (Aalst 1924-2009). This sculpture is a mix of brutalist structures and geometric shapes, you can see clearly several cubes in different dimensions, circles and typical brutalist raw structures. Mounted on a custom made metal display, with a total height of 34cm. Marc De Bruyn studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Aalst and later at the Higher Institute of Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Marc processes stone, copper, iron and aluminium directly on the raw material. His work is based on strong lines, geometric abstraction and fluid non figurative designs.
